Greetings,

As a gentle reminder....the Moderator of a thread is the first line of censorship at HairBoutique.com. Therefore if anyone that is posting is suspected of being a troublemaker in any way, the Moderator has the first right to delete, edit or censor the post or the poster. If necessary, the Moderator has the right to lock a thread. They also have the right to ask someone to stop participating on their thread.

Although the Moderator does not have the final say to ultimately block a person from participating at HairBoutique.com HairTalk in general, their input is very important. Jeff and I do respect and value our Moderators and their input.

Unless the Moderator is on vacation or MIA, I will always discuss volatile discussion situations with the Moderator and let them decide what needs to be done. After all, they have stepped up to the thankless plate to take on this voluntary role and to donate their time. I am always in contact via email with the various moderators and when I see situations, you can be sure that I am discussing them w/ the appropriate people.

If a Moderator locks a thread and asks others to move on, please respect that and move on. Do not take quarrels to other threads or start the same quarrel under a different topic. If you think someone needs to be looked at more seriously as a troublemaker, please show respect and privately bMail or email the moderator and they will look into the request offline.

Thank you all for your participation and thank you to all the Moderators who so graciously help us all have a place to chat.

Karen

Karen......Dave.....

Thanks for halting proceedings that could have fractured our little group.

Much appreciated.

...and now back to learning about long hair and supporting each other in our respective goals.

You are right Uzma, it could have fractured our little group if the thread continued.

I agree too with you Uzma that some people can be very insensitive to others but may have an "inner" sensitivity, a higher ideal or calling somewhere inside themselves that has some value. From what I have read Beethoven was like that, incredibly rude, even disgusting in his behavior to others but he felt this "higher" calling which helped him create some of the most incredible music ever.

*True we all have our ideals and our "proverbial sword" or our "ax to grind" as it were, and we all like to think we are "different" or "special" but people may think otherwise and we all have to have a little humility, a little give as well as take.*

But I guess I wish everyone good luck, we all have our cross to bare.

I kind of like LilleBeach. She seems a lovely person hardly a "herd animal".

Although I am quoting KathyAnn's post, what I am about to say is not directed toward it or her specifically, but is a general statement that I ask all of us to keep in mind.

When contemplating a response to a message, please try to avoid personal attacks.

For example (again, not picking on you), KathyAnn wrote that she likes one of the participants here because she is hardly a "herd animal." The implication is that other people who have posted in the thread (if not everybody else, even those who haven't posted in the thread) is a herd animal. This constitutes a personal attack, even if indirect. Yet oddly, her post began by acknowledging that such divisive talk could "fracture" the group.

If you wish to objectively disagree with a person's opinions ("fighting fair"), that is acceptable here. However, if you resort to name-calling and worse, that is not acceptable. I understand we can feel strongly about certain issues, but everybody's interests are best served when disagreements remain civil and on-topic.

Thank you all for your cooperation.

Dave;

I live with Kathy Ann, I'm her life partner, and discussed this situation with her Dave when it was happening. It upset her.

You misinterpeted what she wrote. A guy named Kintaro accused people who believed in organized religion as being like "herd animals" and had insulted people on the board. Kathy was defending the people he had attacked. She was calling no one a herd animal she was defending those who had been thus attacked.
I know Kathy well, she would never write something like that about someone here. You TOTALLY misinterpeted what she wrote.

Tina,

Thank you for the clarification. What you wrote makes sense in the context you describe. My request for cooperation was not directed specifically toward Kathy, but to everybody. I apologize for not fully understanding the situation. Obviously, then, misunderstandings can also result when the "battles" rage, which is another reason for us all to try to remain on topic.

No problem Dave, you're a cool guy..

I love you're super long hair too! It seems natural for you to have long hair, you look good with it, and it seems to be your style. Some guys SHOULD have long hair; if you like it, grow it!!!.

I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum, my hair's in a super short crop, but it fits me, I'm little and petite and I like the style. To each their own style I say!
Thanks for your understanding guy..

Hi Tina,

Thanks for the compliment on my hair.

Long hair is natural for people to have.

Take care.

I see that the thread went haywire when people wanted to delve into different tangents that weren't even related anymore to hair in anyway.

Of course I don't believe all people in organized religion are blinded, nuts, or ignorant. However, I am offended when people bring their beliefs into the playing field. If we replaced God by Allah, some people who weren't offended would be, God or Allah for Vishnu, Xenu, or whatever. I'm not offended if you follow your faith, but when you need to invoke a deity some person doesn't believe in and try to comfort them, it's a direct slap in the face.

Besides, this is the Long Hair Support board, not the God forums or Internet Infidels (shameless plug : iidb.org ). Maybe my snapping was inappropriate, but I sincerely believe there shouldn't be anything worth snapping at when it touches a realm that has no relevance to long hair, or any length or style to begin with.

I personally enjoy people's input when it contributes to the general idea of the forum. And my belief is that you can screw up anything in just a few words, even if the rest is beautiful.

I'm not going to explicitly apologize for what I said and especially why and what background I have for saying it. However, if it made you think about the mannerisms some people have, and realize some people can be offended by them (remember that 75%++ doesn't belive in a faith similar to yours regardless of which, and about a maximum compatibility of 50 %), it's just that really.

However, I'll definetely apaologize for being a prick. But that's standard operating procedure :P

Live your faith, live without it, but the key word is live it. Hands that help are always better than lips that pray.
That said. I wish to not see excessive theological and anti-theological pushing or be forced into it here. It just doesn't belong.

I hate all of the following and lots more : Fundamentalists, racists, sexists, fascists, ageists (people saying seniors = senile , kids = stupid , 18 = immature or a combo of them), and bigots for causes yet to receive their own designation.

And by re-reading the last few posts of that thread, this line makes so much sense : But you don't have all the answers, none of us do.

Which I agree with completely. Life's an exam though, it's cheating to fill out someone else's answer sheet though. (One way or the other.)

Hindsight seems to indicate nipping the off-topic discussion in the bud would have been the best course of action. Perhaps next time.

I'll take it even a step further Kintaro.
No two people on earth have exactly the same faith, even if large religions like Christianity, Buddhism, and Islam have billions of adherents. People interpet religion differently through their own ideas and experiences.
I agree though that the subject matter shouldn't veer to far away from the hair talk. It gets especially tricky when getting into the areas of religion or politics, the two subjects that seem to really get people upset.
Oh well it's over. Have a nice one you longhairs!
