This is how Feria makes u feel  ! Don't even try it if u never have.It has metallics in it.After u use Feria u can't get it out.Not even with bleach.It will take u a long ass time to get it out.Always be very careful on what dyes u use.I had to put this up.Don't use Feria!!!!!

I'm sorry if you had a bad experience with Feria! I have to say though; Feria does NOT have metallics in it. There are few hair colours that actually have metallics in them anymore ---- usually just the men's darkening colours have them. Feria has 'direct dyes' in them --- that's why they are hard to get out. Direct dyes can't (usually) be removed with colour removers and are usually driven in deeper with bleach. ------------- Love clip-ins and tape! |

I also wanted to add: beware of hairdressers who tell you this. Many hairdressers/professionals do not know that drugstore colours do not contain metallic dyes. they just spew that misinformation because that is what they were told by someone else. It is also a good way to scare you/customer into believe that drugstore haircolour is the devil! They'll tell you never to put a 'box colour' on your hair, but they don't really know why. Yes, professional haircolour is better, but drugstore haircolour is getting better and better. They are not damaging (if used properly) and can last a long time in the hair. Hairdressers hate that!

Hi Fakeizme,
I have nothing against box colour, the reason most hairdressers don't recommend them it some don't cover grey hair and they don't seem to last as long, as professional colours.
I agree with you that we are trained on the use of professional colour and really don't know to much about the boxed colours, but I just go with what my clients tell me. If I suspect metallic salts are present on a clients hair, I would carry out a strand test, a bit time consuming yes, but better that than my client leaving our salon with their hair in a plastic bag:( ------------- karen sanderson |

| I'm ok.I was just warning others about what happend to me awhile ago.I'm fine now.My hair was dyed a really dark color & it wouldn't come out.So I bleached it.Sorry to have confused u guys.I was just warning others to not use it.Thanks for being so nice. |

Karen, you sound like a caring and concerned hairstylist. I hope I did not offend you! Didn't mean to. I really admire and respect stylists/colourists. I would suggest you join Askmags.com if you like to talk about hair and hair colour with other professionals. I lurk there and have learned so much! This is one of the main places where I learned about metallics and direct dyes --- there is lots of info there on how to remove them. Metallic dyes are extremely rare nowadays. I would also note that the reason many drugstore colours do not last/fade is because customers usually colour their WHOLE head when they redo their colour. Thereby going over the shaft and ends of their hair with 20/25 volume peroxide and damaging the hair -- making it suseptible to fading/porosity issue.  ------------- Love clip-ins and tape! |

Hi, I used this brand when I use to color my hair I was a dark red, then a redish blonde. I colored for a year, This brand is very drying, I also had a recation to the red dye last time I colored. I had quite short hair then. This was about three years ago. My color is natural now and to my shoulders. ------------- Go for it change is good, Hair grows back. |

Of course you have not offended me in any way:)
You are right that most box colours now no long have metallic salts present in them, however, most mens box colours, ie just for men, still contain them.
Most box colours don't last long because they are quite weak, and professional colours are stronger and last longer, also give 100% grey coverage. Actually today a new client came in to have her hair coloured and cut and she complained that after using a box colour it didn't touch her grey at all, I told her is was because her hair is resistant white hair and needs pre - soften first.
I am in no way knocking box colurs some are great but some are poor.
Some people love them some hate them, lol.

Hey Karen! I know what you mean about the boxed colours and grey coverage. HOWEVER, the more I learn about hair colour, the more I lean towards the theory that a lot of people just don't know what they are doing! I mean, NOW, I know that (if I were using boxed colour), if I wanted to cover a lot of grey, I would likely pre-soften with a golden blonde colour first, AND I would likely mix two colours that included quite a bit of neutral. Like, I would be that if YOU or any other professional had to use a box colour on their hair, you could make it work and last & look fantastic. But, I do agree that professional colours are higher quality and include more pigment. I also know,though, that there are a lot of hairdressers out there that use professional colour and STILL cannot get it to cover grey!
