Okay, I have a sew in for the first time. I got it for prom but it looks really nice and I plan on wearing them for a while. I have LOTS of questions. So if you can answer them or some, I'd appreciate it. ^_^ Or if you have things that I should know about wearing these, that would definitely be appreciated as well.

-How do I keep MY hair under the sew in moisturized?

-It's braided, what do I use to oil my scalp?

-Can I wash this stuff while it's sewed in?

-How do I oil my scalp withouth getting too much on the weave so that it doesn't look oily and weighed down?

-What oil should I use?

-Can I use the same hair after it's taken down? If so, how do I clean it?

I usually do not worry about specifically "doing" anything to my natural hair.. Whatever products I put on my hair will make their way to my own natural hair.. I wash & condition my weave weekly. (I may wash 2Xs per week if I am wearing curly or wavy hair)

I personally try to stay away from extra oils unless the hair I am wearing REALLY calls for it.. It is tough to oil the scalp without getting oil on the weave hair.. My hair and scalp get adequate moisture from caring for the weave hair..

Yes..

I usually hold it together with a jaw clip (Some poeple use ponytail holders) I find that the jawclip allows me to shampoo the hair right up to the weft. I shampoo & condition the hair then let it airdry..

Diva has it down! I can't help a whole lot since I don't wear sew-ins, but I would agree that taking care of your weave hair should help in taking care of your hair underneath. You definitely want to shampoo and condition the weave hair -- that will help it to last. Use leave-in conditioners, but nothing heavy. You can definitely re-use extension hair especially if you take care of it. Hope it works out for you!

How do I keep MY hair under the sew in moisturized?

-It's braided, what do I use to oil my scalp?
Olive oil, or organic root stimulator has shea butter.

-Can I wash this stuff while it's sewed in?
Always shampoo hair in the shower, because you don't want to have matting or tangling.

-How do I oil my scalp withouth getting too much on the weave so that it doesn't look oily and weighed down?
Sally's has applicator bottles with spouts on the tip. -

What oil should I use?
Fill the bottle with olive oil.

-Can I use the same hair after it's taken down? If so, how do I clean it?
You can use the hair if it is reputable hair, ex: extension plus, Halley's curl, Saga Remy  ect.

The thing that I tell my clients is,  there is no need to oil the scalp heavily, this will cause a build up and cause odor. Lightly oiling as needed is what I say. If the hair is long enough to make plaits, plait it and put rubber bands on the ends and proceed to shampoo. When your weave gets old you can use a rat tail comb to relieve you of the itching. I use a tea tree shampoo and Redken allsoft on my clients. It does two things at once.

Goodluck
