I've been having alot of allergy and tension headaches lately.  Wearing my hair up in any way aggrivates the situation.  I prefer wearing my hair up at work, so I was trying to find a quick way to put it up without having to twist it tightly.

I did a basic braid from the nape half way down the length and tied it off with a hair band.  Then I brought the braid up against my head and secured it with a hairstick by weaving it in and out of the braid from top to bottom.  I used 2 or 3 bobby pins to pin the ends up into a little curly "poof" at the top.  It turned out really cute and it hasn't given me a headache as bad as my normal way of using a hairstick.  (when it's not allergy season, my normal way doesn't bother me at all)

So what did you do?

Me too!  I never had so many sinus headaches as I've had this year (in fact I never had any at all before '08, now I've had them for months).  Any time I have locked in a room alone at work I spend with my head back looking up at the ceiling, (it really helps!)

Your hair style sounds cute, and painless- I wonder if I'd be able to do something similar, but with straight hair my ends wouldn't look as nice I think. I don't know what I could do with them.

Today I'm wearing my hair down (somewhat rare for me).  Usually I just wear a bun.

I have been trying to make an effort to tie my hair back rather than wear my hair down in my effort to grow my hair longer. I always tie my hair my hair into a knot at the back of my hair. My hair is only bsl so it's quite easy to do. People always ask me if I have cut my hair when I do this. I don't mind this look. It's like having a pixie cut and I commented to someone today that it makes me look like a black Audrey Hepburn even if I do say so myself Wink

I use clips from Wal-Mart usually the ones that say "For Thick Hair" they are relativly cheap and don't seem to damage my hair. There are a lot of different ways to wear your hair with the clips from fancy updos to just a simple bun at nape of your neck. The longer curved ones are good for a loose style agaist your head. All of the hair-dos are simple and take less than 5 minutes to do. None of them really require your hair to be pulled tight.

Well...I brushed mine, does that count?  LOL   Actually my house is still a little cool, so I don't mind it down.  when it gets hotter, though, I will most likely braid it and pin it up.  I have noticed, though, that it is long and heavy enough now to really start hurting my scalp if I have it up more than a couple hours.

Lengthygoal, do the clips that say "For Thick Hair" actually work for thick hair?  I can't use most of those clips...Unhappy

My hair is really thick and about BSL maybe a few inches longer and they work fine for mine. If you can't it get all up in one clip, try using too and create 2 buns one on top of the other. Or Take a regular jaw clip gather your hair like your making a low pony twist and then just clip that part up off your neck. That way your hair isn't so heavy and the clip should hold it.
