When u look at me i may seem like any other 17 year old girl ...i wear make up i dress nice but thers always 1 thing messin me up everyday and the way i feel about myself ....its my F****** hair since i was in the 7th grade i started going bald not by accident but ever since {mysecret} happened ive been pulling out my hair strand by strand and after doing this for going on 4 years i ended with patches of baldness thin hair and wen i say thin i mean i can only do my hair in a pony tail which is the size of a nickel wen its up ....i havent curled or wore my hair down since the 6th grade and now iam a senior in highschool !!!!! it sucks so because senior pictures are comin up and i want them to be beautiful memories of that special day !!! i feel like a ugly tomboy that does her hair the same way everyday ?????? how should i fixed this ??? now that iam tryin to let my hair grow by not pullin it out no more it just takes forever and i dnt have that much time I DONT NO WAT TO DO ANYMORE ????

I know you posted your message back in June and am not sure if you are still reading the posts on this site.  But, I have an 11 year old granddaughter (who I am raising) who suffers with trichotillomania (pulls out her hair).  It is an OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder).  You have nothing to be ashamed of.  There is a site that you can check out.  It has SO much information.  It's http://www.trich.org - www.trich.org .  Please check it out.  It will probably be the best thing you can do for yourself.  Also, Hair Club (which is not only for MEN!) offers FREE hair services for children up to the age of 18.  Check it out!

i am 19 years old and i have Alopecia Areata.

while my disease is different than yours, i am also a bald teenager.  my entire body is hairless, and i know what its like to feel like you dont fit in.  there are some great options, though.  wigs, extensions and hair prosthetics are available all over the place, and if you are diagnosed your insurance will often cover at least some of the cost.  wigs take getting used to, but they are great for boosting self esteem and fun to play with your look.

A year ago I suffered from hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.
the things that really worked for me was:

1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

5) also I used herbal treatment - I think it is very important!

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

Have you consulted a dermatoligst and endocrinologist? You may suffer from balding either due to Hormonal change (DHT hormone) or poor diet. Try to figure this first.
