I'm about 25% gray and up till now have been highlighting and lowlighting. I'm naturally med brown, probably between 4 &5 level with naturally curly hair. I'd like to have a base color of dark blonde with some med & light hightlights. Just wondering if I should continue hightlighting & lowlighting for now (its more expensive to full colour and do highlights than to full color, isn't it?) Or I could just have a lot of low lights put in. Any suggestions appreciated.

Hey Karen. I would say that highlighting and lowlighting is probably a easier way to go for you. If they lift your base up to a Level 7 (dark blonde) it will go warm, not ash. Dark blonde is a difficult colour to lift to; usually have to bleach and tone down to get it. They could do a break-the-base on your (slightly lifting your base colour by one level) and touch up your highlights and low lights, but you'll need to keep doing that every month. If you want to lighten up a little, how about adding a few more highlights in? They could be a little lighter or darker than the ones you currently have. Hope it goes well!
