I'm buying hair to do my first weave next week. This stylist makes two "U" shaped braids in the back and then sews in the weave.  I have 1 package/4 oz of Bohyme 18" #8 for the bottom (I dont highlight the underneath part of my hair so I'm getting a lighter shade for the top to blend with my highlights better.  My hair is about an inch past my chin....should I get another 18" weft for the higher braid or could I get away with 14" since she'll have to blend and layer all the way down?  I am up in Canada right now and Bohyme is even more ridiculously expensive up here (even though the dollar is stonger at the moment) so I dont want to pay another $40 for an extra 4 inches if she'll be blending it anyways.

I just wanted to get outside opinions from girls with experience before anyone trys to sell me more than I NEED.  Bottom line - when you girls get weaves do you get 2 wefts the same length or do you get a shorter weft for the higher braid??

Thanks :)

I have used both, mixing lengths when I want a  layered look or buying 8 ounces of the same length.

Are you going to cut the length of the 18" at all?   If the top row is 14" and the bottom is 18" and you aren't planning on cutting the 18" shorter (like 15-16"), I think the result might look unblended and funky.  First of all the bottom row may look too sparse with only 1 row of 18", and then there will be a big gap between the top row and the bottom row, with 14" on top.    Furthermore, with only 1 row of 18", you won't have a whole lot of density in the longer length to layer to blend in with the 14".

So, if it were me, I'd use 18" on both rows.  Again, if you are willing to trim some of the 18" shorter and settle for an overall thinner extension look, than it may work ok with 14" top and 18" bottom.

Good luck!
