i guess it might sound as a stupid question, but what is better at the end? i heard that kanekalon is very similar to a real hair, but also more durable, not fading or have moisture problem... just the only thing is that it's not real.... do any of you had an experience with such hairs or saw/touch it ever in real? |

kanekalon is cheap synthetic hair best suited for braiding and nothing else..

I beg to differ....Kanekalon is a flame retardant fiber that is far more superior than "synthetic" hair....it keeps its shape forever...you can style it only with the hottest steam or hot water. "synthetic" hair is literally plastic shredded into hairlike strands and melts down when fire hits it. The only down fall to Kanekalon is that it is much hotter than human, virgin, or cuticle hair. But depending on what look you would like, you would never have to worry about your curls, waves, or crimps falling...oh one more aspect that could be considered a downside is the shine...but coating it with a little holding spray or ,even better, a fist full of your thickest pastelike conditioner (do not wash it out)always dulls it down....and gives it that human hair look...i have a few "alternative hair" lace wigs and the pricing is about the same due to durability....depending on how you treat it ..they outlast any human hair as far as style and it actually saves me so much style time! ------------- You were not the first...and you SURELY will not be the last... |

My first answer was a QUICK answer.. So let me expand my original statement a little.. TDI makes a wonderful line of products to care for kanekalon pieces. (I brought a synthetic ponytail back from the dead using their products) However, kanekalon synthetic pieces (even the higher end kanekalon pieces) IMO do not have the same lifespan as high quality human hair pieces, nor do they wear the same as human hair over the long run. Kanekalon can be itchy and hot, and some people they do not like the feel of kanekalon on their skin. The curls don't last forever, and in most of my synthetic hairpieces, I've had to re-style and refresh the curls. Kinky curly pieces usually cannot be refreshed once they get that "fuzzy" look that kanekalon usually get on the ends, and I end up simply replacing them as they are truly inexpensive pieces (most under $50). Another option in the world of synthetic hair is thermal fiber synthetic hair. This is synthetic hair which can be styled using heated appliances (set to a low heat temp). Wawa is one of many brands of this type of synthetic hair. Thermal fibers are not made from the same materials as kanekalon which is why they can be styled with heated appliances. I've not yet seen hairpieces or wigs made from thermal fiber. I would gladly purchase one if I ever find one as thermal fiber offer better wear, longevity, and more styling options than kanekalon. At the end of the day there are lots of hair options out there.. I prefer human hair, but for me my kanekalon wigs are great for short term occasional use. ------------- Check out the 5th So Cal offline luncheon??
