I've got an appt coming up in about a month to get my hair cut again and highlights. Currently my hair is short and sorta spikey on top. I would describe it as a short faux hawk depending on how i style it. Its currently medium brown and i'm curious what color highlights look good on a guy with hair like this ? I've had it highlighted before and was never happy with it, because it always looked too yellow or orange. My hair stylist has guaranteed me it wont be orange this time (she's never highlighted it before so i'm trustful), but i'm also thinking that maybe i should take in a picture of what I want? or should I have ideas ahead of time instead of trusting her judgement? I really want to sit down and tell her I trust her best judgement but then again i don't wanna be dissapointed and she not have time to do anything about it before her next client.
any ideas or pictures would be extremely helpful !
Thanks

The style doesn't really effect what color highlights you'd want, it has more to do with your skin tone and what shades go well with you. If you didn't like yellow or orange, I'm betting you are a winter or a summer (which is a girly way of saying you probably have blue or pink undertones in your skin instead of golden colors, and you look better with ash colors on your hair than golden colors. You will know this for sure if wearing yellow makes your skin look either too red or washed out and you look better in other colors).
What this means is this: If you go for blonde, ask for ash blonde. This can be any lightness level you want from dark blonde to white. If you go for light brown, ask for light ash brown to keep them from giving you a warm shade.
Pictures are always helpful! Words can mean different things to different people. A stylist would know what you mean if you say "ash, not yellow or orange", but pictures are easier to convey.
