My hair is dry and progressively becoming coarser and coarser. I do not blow dry, but I straighten once and a while. This week, I`ve straightened about three times, and my hair has shown me its malcontent for this. It is dry, coarse, and screaming for moisture.
I need some deep/leave-in conditioner recommendations, and fast!
Preferably products that I could find in retail. Thanks.
Oh, queary: does baby shampoo contain more moisture than generic, `adult` shampoos?

if you use a flat iron to straigten your hair use a product called "FRIZZ FREE" it is made by "Alternatives" it comes in moisturizer, shampoo & conditioner, and some other stuff....if you apply the moisturizer to your hair before flat ironing it, it will be moist and shiny......hope this helps

Hi Stinka,
Shampoos in general, even "moisturizing" ones, can`t really improve the quality of your hair significantly, simply because they are designed to clean hair through their surfactant detergents. Plus most people don`t leave shampoon on long enough to significantly change the hair`s quality.
What you can do is get a gentle shampoo that does not contain drying ingredients such as sodium lauryl (NOT laureth--that`s fine) sulfate, TEA-lauryl sulfate, ammomium xyleneosulfate, etc. Paul Mitchell Instatn Moisture, Loreal Nature`s Therapy, Biotera Moisturizing Shampoo, Phyto Systeme Hydro-Botanics (at Sally) and Loreal`s Vive series are all good, though there are countless other gentle alternatives both at the salon and drugstore. However, I advise against using baby shampoos, which are gentle but not made to remove the styling product buildup and conditioning agents adults use.
As for conditioners, make sure you leave which ever product you choose on as long as possible, and wear a heating cap while you condition if you can. Remember, while some conditioners claim to "reconstruct" or heal hair, they can`t. Hair is dead, and without cellular regeneration it cannot ever return to its original, pre-heat-styling state. So preventative medicine is the best: Be gentle to your hair, don`t wash, dry and style every day if you can help it and leaving your conditioner in a long while.
My personal conditioner recommendations, based on (literally) years and many dollars spent finding help for my own dry hair: (rinse out) Loreal Nature`s Therapy Mega Moisture, Mizani Moisturefuse, Biotera Reconstructor, Jheri Redding Professional RX Humidifier and Frizz Ease Glistening Creme; (leave-in) Jhirmack HeatCare, Aussie Hair Insurance (will make your hair feel thicker though), Neutrogena Overnight therapy, Professional RX Biotin Spray. There are dozens and dozens of good choices; these are only a few.
Good luck Stinka! :-)

Why don`t you try a conditioner washes? Simply wash your hair with conditioner, rather than shampoo. I tried this with Salon Selectives Moisture Drenched conditioner, and it made a difference in my hair!
Also, why don`t you try this shampoo called Creme of Nature. It is an ethnic product, but if you really need moisture, I definitely recommend that you try this. It is very gentle, and it is full of moisture, and has absolutely no harsh ingredients whatsoever.

Wow? You can wash your hair with conditioner? How does that work? It will actually CLEAN as well as moisturise your hair? I'm excited.
