Hi - wow, this board has blown me away with all the knowledgeable people - soooo glad I found this place! I hope someone can help me before I start and get into a hair disaster (o:
I'm naturally a dark brunette, Ive been coloring my hair for with drugstore box kits for years with various shades of blonde.
Currently Ive been coloring with Loreal Preference 9.5a (lightest ash blonde).. been using this for a while, but the last couple of times Ive colored its turned out a bit brassy. I also do highlights with Revlon's frost & glow, which turn out well. To camouflage the brass Ive been using temp. rinses by fancifull, one in light brown for "low lites" and one in silver mink (purple) to tone down the brass -- it works but I have to do it every single time I wash my hair.. needless to say I'm getting tired (o:
Right now I'm in need of a retouch / all over color. I have dark roots, the rest varies from a very light blonde (where the highlights are), to a dark brassy blonde (the under layers of my hair).
I did a brief search online before heading to Sally's (however didn't find this site until later), and bought Clairoxide 40 developer, and Clairol pro., prem. cream 10A (lightest cool blonde) w/ violet base. The sales-lady at Sallys said I should put it on my new growth first, then pull it through the rest of my hair - is this good advice?
Ive never worked with these professional products, only the box kits from the drugstore so I want to go about this the best possible way.
Any advice / tips - did I purchase the correct stuff, or should I go exchange - anything in addition I should buy before I get started?
Thank you in advance for your time and help (o: Susie
