It's just about a fact that everybody used hairspray back in the "big
hair" 80s. I was guilty of emptying many many cans of aerosol spray
every month towards the end of the decade. What was your spray of
choice? Aerosol or pump? How long did a can last you? and How BIG
could you get your hair!?! Finally one question that's always nagged
me. Brands like Rave and Aqua Net always have different "holds", is
there actually a difference. I never tried a "super" or a "regular" or a
"Mega" because I always used the "ULTIMATE" hold, I wasn't going to
chance my bangs starting to droop! I always bought cheap, but
occasionally splurged for Aussie Freezing Spray, because I loved the
grape scent. I still use Aussie products and the smell brings me back
to those teasin' and sprayin' days! Any one else have Big hair
memories?

I loved Vavoom and still use it although they have changed the formula. A can would last me a couple of months at most. I would buy a can every trip to the salon. Alas, I couldn't get my hair very big no matter what I did (baby fine and thin aren't condusive to that) so I settled for the "claw" bang look which required a lot of teasing and spraying.

I think the different "strengths" of hairspray just refer to the amount of stickiness. The mega holds you can't even brush through very easily. They absolutely don't work for me. Just weigh my hair down and make it look greasy.

This is fun!!!
I began my hair carreer during that period. My spray of choice was Paul Mitchell Freeze and shine.

Although I do not wear my hair that way anymore, I do still use it on my fine curly hair.

My fondest memory was teaching clients how to tease their hair up to the highest level.

Ahhhh those were the days!!! Funny how times have changed

Hello I read your message, and since you are hair professional I have a question for you. I messed my hair up!! 5 days ago, I had a spiral perm done, my hair have been chimically treated with permanet color for about a year now. After the perm was done, I had really dry looking dread locks. My hair dresser, said is because of the color. I went to a different saloon, to buy a Paul Mithchell conditioner for damaged hair and was told that my hair have been over process by the perm.

I need a color on my hair, because I have lots of gray hair. What type of color can I do? I was told to do a toner, not a permanent color. Or I will mess my hair even more! The hair are all dry, I have strong hair, if I had thin hair I would have probably need to cut them all off. Please Advise

I remember using Rave and Aquanet. I remember my sister using something called Salon Selectives - I think it was in a bright pink bottle. Jeez, that stuff had a distinctive smell and I remember gagging. Near the end I was using Paul Mitchell freeze and shine too. I remember having my hair clamped in the curling iron and spraying the hairspray on the hair while the curling iron was still in place.
