My hair is naturally a medium/dark brown and is long, about to the middle of my back. I used to be blonde as a kid and have always wanted to try blonde again. I finally decided to just go ahead and do it. My friend has been coloring her hair at an Aveda salon here for the past few years and told me that's the best place to go. I get an appointment with the owner. When I go, I bring 5 pictures with me to show her what I want and what I don't want. She looks at them, looks at my hair and says she can do it, but it will take two sessions. This is so my hair doesn't get too dried out. Okay. I leave there with my brown hair, but with a lot of blonde highlights. (she said she weaved my whole head?) This, and shampoo and conditioner cost $290.

Next session a few weeks later. She is supposed to finish and I shouldn't have any brown left, my hair should be all blonde. I leave with my hair the exact same, except she bleached from my roots to 3 inches out. This time it was $90.

i didn't realize how bad it was till I got home. I looks like I dipped just the top of my head in bleach, and the rest is still a mixture of blonde and dark brown. Looks like crap.

When I showed her the pics of what I wanted she said she could do it. This looks NOTHING like what I showed her. What I want is bright blonde hair. For lack of a better explanation, like the bright blonde hair you see on most Playboy Playmates, lol. I want BLONDE hair. I don't want a lot of yellow in it and I told her all of this. It may end up looking dumb, but this is what I want to try. It can't be that hard to do, every third person I see at the mall has this hair. I could have gone to a much cheaper salon and had it done in one session, for much less $$ I'm sure.

Now I'm not sure what to do. Should I go back and take a chance on screwing it up more, or just go somewhere else?

First of all have you had colour on your hair, or is it virgin hair (never been coloured) If you have had it previously coloured, bleach/colour removers has to be used to remove colour. If you have no colour on your hair, then 1 or 2 things could have happened the stylist hasn't used the correct volume of peroxide and/or not left bleach on long enough.

I think it would be too hard for you to try fix yourself, as it sounds as if you have bands of colour. If I were you I would go back and ask them to fix it free of charge, as you have paid to have all your hi lights blonde.

If you can post a pic, to see what your hair is like, it may only need a violet based toner.

I agree....after all the money you paid I would insist they fix it for you. Maybe explain it to them just like you did with us 'playboy bunny white' blonde hair...lol.

Yes, they should know what you want. Normally, I try to do my own hair. But we all know bleaching can be complicated, like karen s mentions with the bands of color. Trying to fix that yourself might be more painful than a root canal :-) Better leave this one to the pros who screwed it up to begin with.
