I have pixie length hair with 1/2 inch grey roots. I would like to do 2 things. Grow it a little longer and get it to it's natural color. I don't have the patience to wait for the color to grow out and would like to try to blend the dyed hair in with the natural....This is where it gets complicated. I can't use any products with PPD. I was using henna for the last 5 years, but recently that seems to make my head itch (although it is not nearly as bad as my reaction to PPD ) I followed directions on the net, applying yogurt many, many, many times to the henna dyed hair and got quite a bit of it out. Then I tried to dye my whole head a very light brown with Loreal Natural Match. ( It didn't list PPD as an Ingredient) My hair came out a pumpkin color and I had to go to the doctor because of a bad reaction. So not that I'm stupid or anything.....Then I tried to put in some highlights to break up the color ( didn't have a reaction ), but my hair was too brassy. So then....OH NO....by now I had 1/2 salt and pepper root thing happening. So I applied Tints of Nature in a brown with a cotton ball...avoiding my scalp...and that toned down the brassiness a little.
I still have noticable roots. I was wondering...what about a reverse frosting? If I let my roots get about a inch and have the ends stripped and toned and have brown under tones put in without touching my scalp? ( to match the salt and pepper.) Can that be done?...I know...it would be easier to buy a hat.
