Hey Everyone!
I thought I would post an update on how my corrective color is going. Argh! What a process! 
I did try the One 'n Only Colorfix. The first application it seemed to work fairly well. I started at about a level 2 throughout most of my length with warm (reddish) level 3-4 natural highlights. About an inch or so of regrowth was my natural level 6/7. Anyway, the first application seemed to remove a lot of dye and got me up to about 4/5 with the darker color towards the mid shaft and ends. I, personally, found the Colorfix hard to apply on myself, especially the final neutralizer step. I did the third step in the shower not realizing that the stuff is the consistency of water. Not easy! Anyway, the next day I did the shampoo in method which worked slightly, but, still did not get out all the dye. The worst part is that my hair has redarkened now almost back to where it was before I started!  They warn that can happen and I don't really understand the chemistry of how it works.
I think if I am going to go blonde, I will just have to do a bleach. I knew I would need to anyway, but, was going to try to use one made to lift only five levels (thinking it might be more gentle). My hair is pretty damaged though, so I think if I go this route I will probably need a radical cut. Oh, well. Life goes on. Back to daydreaming about being a Playboy bunny blonde... LOL

I have never used colour fix, but I have used goldwells colour removers called wipe out, and you need to vigorously need to wash the hair 5 times to help the colour back out of the hair, but as you said some times the colour can just go dark again, thats why I don't use them.
I know its probably not much help, but I am manly thinking of the condition of your hair, by going blonde gradually with lots of hi lights, and gradually build them up. This is what I recommend to clients who are as dark as you.

I am not sure what I will do now. I was trying to avoid more damage. I know the Colorfix supposedly is non-damaging, but, my hair felt fried afterwards even after using an overnight conditioner. I don't want to say it was absolutely the Colorfix though because I have had three major surgeries this year (two in the last three months). I think all the general anesthesia has contributed to my breakage and dry/brittle hair. I think your suggestion of highlights is a good one. I will probably ultimately go that route. I just wish I could get my base color up closer to my natural level first. |

Can you not use a filler and then a semi, in the meantime. The reason I suggest a semi or demi, as when you do go for loads of hi lights the semi or demi will lift out of your hair pretty easily, permanent colours are very hair to lift back out. when hair is damaged there is not a lot you can do about it, deep conditioning treatments help with the condition, but wont unfortunately alter the damage that has been done.
I'm pretty sure you will get your playboy platinum blonde one day, but do it gradually is your hairs safest bet.
