I have a bottle of Redken shades in 5N walnut, but that is too dark. If I mix it with clear will that lighten it?

Thank-you for your help!

Hi, Was wondering what color your hair is & what you wish for it to be?

My hair is med. brown with golden highlights, and I don't want to darken the highlights. I just want to freshen and shine it up.

Thanks!

use the clear alone for shine. it won't lighten the level 5 brown.   Steer clear of that 5N it will cover your highlights.

If you wish to refresh by glazing maybe try Redken Shades EQ: ¼-oz 09GB + ¾-oz Crystal Clear or how needed depending on length. Test a strand to see.  The Walnut would be to DEEPEN. I don't know that you would benefit from that color unless want to go darker & cover the highlights.
