hello everyone. i was wondering if i receive some advice. this isn't very hard to do but i just want to make sure i do it right. my sister previously dyed her hair dark brown a long time ago. she has about 5 inches of natural black roots and the rest and ends of it is a faded dark brown. she wants a slightly lighter brown than her natural color so today we chose ion's liquid dark golden brown. i wanted to make sure i do it right since it is her birthday this week also and i wanna make sure it doesn't come out too dark. how should i go about the process. should i apply to the roots or ends first? should i use the 20 developer or the 30? and for how long? thanks everyone can't wait to hear your advice!

Hi,

If your sister's hair is already a dark brown, the dark golden brown will only warm the already dark brown she already has. If she is looking to go a light brown, you will either need to use a colour remover or pre lighten her hair first, as colour won't lift colour.

However if you do opt to use the colour you already have apply the colour to the ends and middle of her hair first, then the last 15 mins apply to the roots, as its new hair growth, plus the heat from her scalp will process the colour faster.

I hope this makes sense to you, and good luck.

Karen.
