Is it possible to lighten darker red hair to a lighter shade without using a pemanent color?

My hair as previously been bleached 3 weeks ago but I didn't like the fact it was going brassy to fast so I got it colored a red shade, when she first did it it was really bright and gorgeous but it faded lots after the first wash (I was pre-warned this would happen).
She told me to come back in and she would use the same color to go over it again so it would stick better but the second time it turned out more browny red and darker than the first time.
Don't get me wrong I do like it but ideally I would like it a medium auburn shade like this:

Sorry I have no pictures at the moment but it's probably what you would class as dark auburn so I'm looking to lighten up a shade and get the red tone to show up more that the brown I also know it's gonna fade a little as I wash it.

My hairdresser is using wella color touch on me but I'm not sure on the shade.

Any help would be apreciated

Your hair will fade to a lighter shade in time with washing, and as you said unfortunately so will the red, as red fades so quickly, but is the hardest colour to totally remove from the hair ( I know confusing, lol)

Your best bet to maintain the red tones is to use a red shampoo to keep your red/auburn tones vibrant. As your from the UK, as I am. Boots and superdrug stock the John Freda Colour gloss shampoos and they are pretty good, why not give this a go and see how you get on.

I hope this helps a little.
