Sorry if I type a lot! I try to keep it as blunt as possible, but it doesn't always work out! Okay, so tomorrow at 6:30 pm, I am going to get at least ten inches cut off my hair to donate to locks of love... so the result will be about to my shoulders.
Problems
I've done my fair share of flat ironing and blow drying my hair when I was a freshman in high school. I've even dyed it a few times. But I would say for the past... year and a half? I've been trying to repair my hair... So I don't know if it's too damaged to accept, or not. The hairstylist said my hair looks pretty healthy, but I'm still iffy.
Everytime I ask for suggestions on how to cut my hair (NOT if I should cut it), most of the time people say, "Don't cut it, it's so pretty!" People never seem to support my descision to cut my hair. I've tried asking my mom, and all she did was give me this big LONG speech on how I should do what I want, and not listen to other people's advice... but I don't know what I want! I mean, I know I want to cut it, but I just don't know HOW to cut it! I don't want my hair to look terrible, afterall.
I haven't had a real hair cut in about 4 years, and when I did cut my hair, it looked HORRIBLE! It was poofy, to my chin, and disguisting! I don't want that to happen again. I have no idea what would flatter my face shape/features. I'm hoping that based on this information, you can give me advice on a hair cut I won't regret!
 About My Hair
It is medium-dark brown, waist length, and naturally very wavy. I usually doesn't stay straight when I flat iron it, and it cannot hold a curl! It has a few small layers, but you probably won't even notice them.
Face
I have no idea what my best feature is. Some people say my eyes, but I think tha'ts only when I wear a ton of eye make-up. My worst feature is my nose... so if I could find a haircut that might focus less on that, that would be great.
What I Want
I just want something that will look good on me... so I'm pretty open for suggestions. I would prefer to keep it around shoulder-length though, and I would want something that doesn't require a lot of heat to style (like I said, my hair is undergoing a lot of therapy right now).

^^ Those are some of the hair cuts that I want to get. A lot of them are sort of similar, so I guess you don't have to look at all of them.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I would check their website to see if they have an requirements for the type/condition of the hair they accept; call them if you need.

As for getting it cut, if you have a salon you frequent often or know of the salon you will be going to, to get your hair cut, ask the stylist what medium/shoulder length cuts would look good on you or even take a pic of the hairstyle you'd like with you and ask if it would look good on you, or if they could give you a look similar to the pic, that would flatter your face the most/look the best on you.

Hi Bess and Welcome :O)
First of all I really love your long hair - of course you are going to get that on this board from everyone I think - (since we are all trying to grow our hair to your length and longer.) I took a look at the pictures you would like to have done and in my opinion the first page looks like women that I know in their 40's and 50's. Are you going for an older look? I am also not sure what you want to hear from this board since we are a long hair board, promoting the health and goals of length for long hair. Maybe you will have better luck with advice on one of the hair cutting forums since this board RUNS!!!! from scissors.

 Yeah Bess, as Kimbearly said, this is not the board for encouraging chopping of beautiful hair. My wife has locks past her waist, bless her heart! 
The truth about hair donating, tho' you'll never hear this on most media, is that a glut of hair exists, especially at Locks of Love. Their president, Madonna Coffman, admitted to the New York Times last year that hair is not needed, but she refuses to take away the "warm, fuzzy feeling" that donors get when they *think* they are helping a child by cutting their hair. Bess good luck in what you want to do. I agree with Kimbearly also. Your hair would look good with the two she pciked out. The others were also ok. She is right most were a older look. If you are looking for that then they will also work for you. Rob is right about LOL.(Locks of Love). Maybe that other one Panteen? Is it Pantene Great Lengths? I think they are a bit more respectable than Locks of Love. I would definately look into the condition requirements though as LOL only use hair for kids so I'm pretty sure they don't want dyed hair at all. After 18 months only 9 inches from the top would be healthy new hair, so the ends will still have all that damage. If it's LOL you want to donate to then you would need to grow that our for your hair to be considered.
