hello to everyone...

Summers coming... its getting warm outside..

My question is, Using metal hair clips in your hair bad for it.. Does it brake it off.. If so, what kind of clips should I use..

Trying to grow my hair out... had to get my sides layered and back trimmed ,, because of a bad habit, ( pulling my hair out and braking it ) ,, but have been taking good care of my hair since.. so many oils, so much fun.

So any info on clips would be a very big help..

Thanks to all and
Hairs to you.

Brenda

Anything that grabs the hair is bad for it. The worst thing for a ponytail is a rubberband, the second worst is that thin band. Use a scrunchy for a ponytail or a clip to put the hair up.

I agree. Anything that puts a sharp bend in my hair damages it.

Metal clips, BAD!!!

Try hair sticks, or a Ficcare. Amanda suggested Ficcares to me here: http://talk.hairboutique.com/forum/viewthread.asp?forum=AMB_AP881778452&id=3206 - http://talk.hairboutique.com/forum/viewthread.asp?forum=AMB_AP881778452&id=3206

I bought one and love it! I only wish I could find what I did with it! I think it's in the house somewhere. I'd lose my head if it weren't attached.

Is there an alternative to Ficcare? As much as I know that they are good for the hair, I'm not too excited about the style, or the clamp.

I'm looking for an alternative to snap lock hair clips, bobby pins, or just general hair clips. Any ideas would really help!

When I first saw the Ficcare, I was turned off too. After all, it's metal! But it doesn't harm your hair! I dunno why not, but it just doesn't. I put small sections of hair in the clamp to test, still no damage! No damage with regular use either, of course.

You can use the Ficcare for lots of different styles.
Here's how I wore mine today:

Look at the Ficcare website for other styles. This one is my favorite:

I wear my hair like this sometimes. Unfortunately, it doesn't look QUITE that good, but it's getting there.

But I'm interested in learning about more great options, too! I love non-damaging hair clips! Can't get enough of 'em!

Completely off the subject of hair clips: your hair is gorgeous, SuperGrover! And your cat's pretty cute too!

Thank you Isla!! I am blushing, but the cat seems unimpressed. He knows he's a prince.

I was taking a look at the Ficcare website and saw that they also make a smaller clip called the "Dolphin clip" and various hairpins. Does anyone know if these are safe for hair as well?
