I'm considering adding "deep conditioning" to my hair care schedule...
What do you do? What products do you use? Do you use at home products or get it done in a salon?
How do you do deal with a slick back (especially in the summer) due to conditioning agents coating it???
How long is your hair--I think this info is important for sharing since it may affect how you treat your hair given it's age..."shoulder length" "down my back" "to my waist" "to my hips" any knees here? I always said that when my hair gets down to my knees, I won't work anymore....
My hair is one length, wavy and just down past my waist.
Thanks in advance!

Hi LGOMH,
For a "regular" deep conditioner, I really like Edwin Paul's Deep Conditioner. For a once-in-awhile deep conditioner, I like the George Michael 12-minute conditioner (which I leave on for an hour at least). They both work well for me.
Your hair is past your waist?! You're doing great!

Hi -
My hair is down to my hips ( see picture link in signature). I deep condition and use oil. I mix up a batch of conditioning stuff and slather my hair, and then wrap plastic wrap and warm towels around it for a "deep" conditioning treatment that only lasts a couple of hours. I normally mix Kiehls Groom with Silk, jojoba oil, and a couple of capsules of Split End Mender in a bowl and with a comb, just completely saturate the length. Two hours later, wash and condition.
OR
The 48 hour oil. I used jojoba oil all winter, but will switch to a lighter blend I get at WalMart for the summer. Same objective, just much longer time period. On Friday night, saturate hair with oil. I wear a braid to sleep, and wrap my pillow in a towel. Saturday morning, re-soak hair in oil. Sunday morning, resoak hair in oil again - wash out Sunday night.
I oil the ends of my hair almost every day, very ightly, for protection and moisturisation.
Dealing with slickback - when I oil - I usually wear a braided bun, so no drips.
Hope this helps

Gren

Thanks Dave!
How about sending some of that lovely FL weather this way? Upstate NY has been dreary lately. It is summer, right? LOL

YAY - Gren's coming to London
I am so looking forward to meeting you. Please do PM me when you get your dates and location sorted out.
The weather should be good in August - that's usually the only month we can be fairly sure to have uninterrupted sunshine.
Anyway, the sun will shine because Gren will be here!!!!

Hey Gren, you can have some of this heat. I just talked on the phone with a friend from "upstate" NY and I guess it's finally starting to warm up, up there. But we're getting lots of rain here too (typically so). Not sure if you'd like the tradeoff, if you were here. Weather or not you like it, there it is.
