What kind of brush (soft, medium, or hard) would the annie 2082 be considered? Also when do you normally switch from soft to hard brush, or do you just used the hardest brust your scalp and length of hair can handle from the beginning of the proccess.

bein real with you, I do not own that particular annie brush.  But in my opinion you need to use the brush your hair needs... This sounds like a weird idea, but what I mean is if your hair is really natural, nappy, out of control, I'd use a hard brush.  Your whole goal while waving to lay your hair our in the direction perpendicular to wave development.  you want waves going

obviously.  This much you know, (I assume).
When your hair is longer, you might need a hardbrush because your soft brush might not be able to lay it down anymore, but when its shorter, a softbrush might be better at the job.  So thats my answer.  Use what your hair needs.  If you're not sure, like he said having different kinds lets you experiment and figure out what you need to be using.

And definitely don't just use the hardest brush you can endure, I know some kids who scratched their scalps up good thinking a hardbrush on their short hair would be the best thing, they still have no waves, lots of dandruff, and an irritated scalp.
