hey Everyone!! this is my first post on here. My two daughters had appointments last Friday to get haircuts. My 13 yr old decided that since it was "funday carnival" at school, she didn't want me to get her out of school early for her cut. I called that morning to cancel her part of the appointment and was told by the salon owner that there is a 30.00 cancellation fee !! OMG...so after a quick though I said "well, can you just put me down for a cut in her place" that was fine.
I didn't have time to prepare myself mentally for getting a haircut since I had about 6-7 inches cut off my long hair about 2 weeks previous.
My daughter and I get to the salon and the stylist/owner asks me what I want. I said "well, I would like highlights and I just had about 6-7 inches cut off 2 weeks ago so....don't know how you should trim it"
I get in the chair and she says to me again "How do you want it cut?" Something came over me and the words just came out...I said...."I will tell you what, I am feeling brave today and I am going to let you do whatever you want to do to my hair today, nothing is off limits"
OMG...then I was thinking....I have long hair...what did I just get into?
Anyway, the stylist says "I would like to see your hair about a couple inches shorter" I said....do it before I chicken out !!
So, needless to say I LOVE IT SHORT !!!!!
my husband had no clue that I was even getting a haircut on Friday, not that he would care but jeez, a whole new me was going to be at the house when he got home.
My husband who is a long hair lover said that I need to get my hair cut every 6-8 weeks now and KEEP it short for a little while. He even said..."next time, cut the sides and back a bit shorter"
So...
i am posting pics of the "before when i had the 6 inches cut off" and then a pic of today.
Do you think that my hair would look ok being shorter on the sides and back?? I actually am up for anything really. I figure that since it is already this short, why not play with it with different styles.
So, I would love advice because I have had long hair for about 5+ years. How often should I cut it so that it does not grow to long? what do you suggest for my next style and cut? Do you think I should take my hubby up and cut it shorter on the sides, I KNOW the back is going to be shorter next time in some way.
I LOVE IT SHORT !!!!!!!

This is the back of my hair (sorry for the self-pic in the mirror)
The others are styles that my hubby and I saw in a hair mag that I purchased a few months ago. Some of the choices are his, some are mine.
Do you all think any of these would look good on me or would work for my hair and face?
I do appreciate all of your advice.
I am keeping this short hair for a long time !!!!

Wow great makeover. You look younger with shorter hair. Your husband is right when he says you could go shorter in the back and sides. I would say the first picture or the last pictures for your next cut depending on how brave you are feeling. If this is the shortest you think you will ever go then try the last style. You might be lucky enough to have them use clippers on the back.

I agree. If you're ready to go short, go really short. I did the same thing recently. I cut 6 inches off and then another inch, so now it's clipped up slightly in the back. I know I'll let it grow long again soon, but it's so much fun to get it cut really short once in a while. I usually go for really short bobs, like your third picture, because they're really easy to grow out. But I think any of those styles would suit you
And if you're hubby is game for short hair, all the better!

When my wife had pixie short hair many years ago, she usually let it grow about 3 months or so, so every cut was a big change. Of course, some styles, like the pob, usually fall out of shape after a month. Glad you like the change. Bob
