Hello,
I'm having trouble getting my dark brown hair to be a medium bright red. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong. Everytime I dye it red, it keeps turning brown with red highlights.

Your maybe needing to use an intense red, if your colour is a darker brown. Did you have hi lights previous, if so you would have needed to fill in the hi lights with a copper for the brown/red to grab on to the pre lightened area's.

I color my hair red all the time.U can also use a color shampoo or cond. I use Aveda Madder Root.I'd do what Karen said to.Plus, use a color shampoo.The Cond. does better though.There r ones online u can look up.U can also try Artec color shampoo or cond.Loreal has taken over them,so look up Loreal color shampoo.They have it in diff. reds.I would get the cond.The shampooss r drying to hair.These r not cheap.They r 12.50-17.00.They do a great job.My fav. is Aveda cond.Red fades fast,so u would wanna use the cond. everytime u shampoo.Try not to wash your hair everyday.
