I wanna try dying my hair an auburn/red color. My hair is dark brown and it is dyed already. Everytime i try to go red though it sticks to my roots making them glow orangy red. My roots are my natural hair color and the length of it is still colored, which is why my roots take the color so much. My hair is also very thin and fine as well.

Is there a way I can apply the hair dye to prevent this from happening? Or any tips on dying hair auburn evenly?

I was gonna try dying my length first, and then apply it to my roots.
And do you think highlights would turn out better then all over color?

I posted a picture.

Please and thanks ladies!

What type of color do you have on Demi semi perm? You could lift your base color & remove previous color then choose a level 4 color all over & after 6 for the root area...to deepen it? Depending on strand tests, condition of hair you could try a variety of things & shampoos to maintain the color. Have any photos for inspiration? Embarrassed  If you did highlights then you could lift to the level required for the red color you wish to put on, glaze the hair in demi.

I have this happen to me to.All I do is use demi color, that way it won't lighten the roots. It only deposits color.
