Like the length and condition. But other photos from this
appearance (see Getty) show that she must have thrown away her curling
iron. She's wearing it flat, straight, and center-parted.
Ugh! The heavy layering around the front just looks stringy with
this style.
Now with a few curls and a little lift on top, as in a few months earlier . . . .
Voila!

I do not understand it. She has great full hair with body why is it so flat? Add some fluff.

| Please, please, please. Somebody tell me what the heck is wrong with a center part? I know I'm no fan of the ear tuck, but I know why: I've never seen tucking one's hair behind one's ear(s) as improving one's hair. It's usually done out of nervous habit or to keep hair out of one's face. I can't recall any woman looking better because of an ear tuck.
Now that I've explained rather succinctly why I don't like the ear tuck, please explain your problem with the center part. How does that affect the way a woman's hair looks? It's almost like just because someone has a center part her hairstyle is disqualified. I don't get it. At this point, I think it's a stupid generalization.
If a woman has long hair, I don't care where her part is or if she has a part.
And Mike, I don't see how flat hair matters. I think that if either one of us encountered Catherine Zeta-Jones, we'd both be drooling, flat hair or not.

Kramer, I can only answer to why I don't lke a center part (sometimes, especially on short hair, an ear tuck on one side is sexy) Most of the reasons why I think a "off center" part looks better is because perception of hair flow. 1. A center part seems to draw more attention to the part itself, rather than the hair. 2. It also will draw more attention to the nose - so it has to be a perfect one. 3. Tends to give the illusion of the hair being flatter on top 4. It will highlight an imbalance in the facial structure (rarely, does one have a perfectly balanced face) 5. The most important reason ... I really just don't like it.

I think I agree with Kramer on this: it's a generalization. There are women who seem to have the long hair and center part because they can't think of any other way to wear their hair--but this isn't true of Zeta Jones (nor Demi Moore in past incarnations).
Conclusion: Don't generalize!

I disagree. I absolutely love the center part and the ear tuck. Its a sign of amazing long hair and I love how she wears it. The length is amazing and I hope she grows it even longer :)

I guess I see the flat look way too much. The first time I saw her her hair was waist lenght and full. That was the look that got me. That is all.

OK, OK, I defer to superior wisdom. Kramer & Fatmoogas,
you're right about generalizations about a center part. Maybe it
gets such a bad rap because, as with Ms. Jones, it usally is
accompanied by straight, flat hair, which is often an unflattering
style.
I also agree that CZJ is drop dead gorgeous, no matter what her
hair style, and I'd be drooling too. It is, however, not as
flattering a style as most of her appearances, IMO.

Did you enlarge the photo? I liked it better when it was thicker.

Kramer, to answer your question, it's hard for me to give logical reasons why I don't like center parts. Lovesshorthair gave a great list, and I agree with all his points.
Beyond that, I just think center parts look really harsh and severe, almost like the woman's head is being sliced open right down the middle. To me there's no personality to it, no fun, no playfulness. Plus the center-part style has been so ubiquitous for so many years, I've just gotten really sick of seeing it.
In contrast, I think a side part is generally much softer and sexier, and flatters nearly every woman who wears it. Add bangs that set off the eyes and you're in my neighborhood.
As for CZJ, I second Durango's call for lift and curls!

I agree. Enlarged it's not so good.
