So I just bought my first extension ever ... it's thermofibre synthetic clip ons .. I know most people recommend human hair, but I got creeped out .. and I don't understand a bit about it.  Cry . It says it's heat friendly but I can't curl it ? I'm so confused ..  i want to learn how to care for it because i'm planning to have it on for a good month. so what is the difference between thermofiber and other synthetic extensions?

I've never heard of thermofiber synthetic hair.  Since it says you should be able to use heat, from my experience, most synthetics you can't use heat.

The hair packaging or anything didn't have instructions on how to use heat? Like some take up to so n so temperatures.

I've had success with regular synthetics from clip-ins to weaves.

No .. I'm really confused with this darn thing ... i checked the site and it says I can't curl it but it's heat friendly .. I'm guessing that it's good for hot weather ? But the instructions says that I can curl it or flat iron it with "heigh" heat .. but the site says it cannot be curled? lol .. it's really confusing .. but i don't think i want to mess it up . so i'm not using heat on it ... Unhappy

I'm not sure where your hair is from or how high quality is. I've used Plastikhaar, one of the highest quality synthetic hair and I was able to curl it and iron it on a low heat setting.

Did it get rough or was it still like brand new when you curled and iron it?
Mine said Opulence on it .. I ordered it from a site .. Confused

It was still perfect and fine. But you have to be careful with the heat settings. If it's too hot it will fry the hair and frazzle it. You won't be able to wear it anymore.

Do you have a small piece you can practice on? That would be best.

Yes .. I have 4 small pieces for the bangs i think it's for .. oh another question .. with the clip ins .. will it trigger the metal detector(i think that's what it's called) in the airport ? i'm really a shy person and if they tell me to take it off i'll be soo embarrassed .. but thank you for answering my questions barbie =]

No problem!!

I don't think so. I can't speak from experience but I believe another lady asked that same question and was told that they wouldn't set off any metal alarms. I'm not sure if they clips even are metal? If they are though, I don't think they're strong enough to set off an airport alarm, etc.

My fiance said the same thing, saying that it's probably not strong enough to set off the alarm .. but THANKS SO MUCH ..

thermofiber isnt hard to curl once you get the hang of it. The key is that the curl needs to heat and cool in the same position. In otherwords, after you get the curl good and hot with your curling iron, then you need to carefully slide the curl off of the barrel without letting it drop or uncurl. Either hold the curl in your hand until cool or clip the curl in its curled position until cool. If you let the curl drop off of the iron the curl will fall out. Also, many brands of thermo need to be damp-to wet to curl well. It will sizzle when you use the hot iron but it should be ok. Experiment with different heat settings to find what temp is best for your particular thermofiber.
