Olephin Sulfonate is a hair detergant. has anyone else heard of it? it's in kenra shampoo.

I looked it up in Paula Begoun's book, but the ingredient was not listed there.

However, it was listed on this page:

"Alpha Olefin Sulfonate
Active:40%
Chemical/CTFA Name: Sodium Alpha Olefin Sulfonate
Applications: High foaming detergent and emulsifier. For shampoos, bubble baths, liquid hand and body soaps, dish wash and car wash products, pet shampoos, general purpose cleaners and emulsion polymerization."
