Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can help. As you can see, my hair is too different colors right now. At the top there is a large portion of my natural ash dark brown and at the bottom is a brassy auburn color that was a result of fading when I attempted to dye my bleached blonde highlights back to my natural color. Now I'm looking for a new hair color. I don't like to look conventional, I like the high fashion models look-wise so I'm wondering which hair color will be best for me. I think my skin is cool toned because my veins are blue. Maybe ash dark blonde?

You have got a very pale skin tone, to warm up your skin tone, I would recommend a chestnut brown. I think this colour would suit you. Stay away from ash tones as they only cool down your skin tone even more. Look for warm tones, gold/red. If your looking to go blonde again don't go too light, maybe a golden blonde.

I say go with a light-medium brown.... then add dramatic blonde highlights... that way you can see how well you like the blonde, and go from there. YEARS ago I posted pictures of my dark brown hair (though it is soo much healthier and has a ton of shine it really makes my face look very washed out) most people on here said blonde wouldn't work, my skin tone this & that. But because I was determined I put HEAVY amounts of highlights in my hair (have to do it twice to get the level of blonde that I want), people that knew me back then have told me never to let my hair go to dark brown again. I find that the lighter almost platnum blonde the highlights are, the better it looks with my complexion! :) Good luck, post the results!

That is a great idea, thank you! I will wait a bit until most of the bleached hair is out and yesterday I cut about 13-14cm so I will wait until my hair grows longer, cut off more bleached ends, and then it looks like I am going for the blonde! =)

Hi Karen, are you sure cool blondes will wash my out? I heard the exact opposite. I heard if you are cool tones, ash tones bright your complexion and honey/caramel will make me skin look sick?

Think about it, If your skin tone is pale, cool tones will make your skin complexion more cooler looking. Adding warm tones to the hair warms up the skin tone. Another way to look at at is when applying make up to pale skin tone you want to add warm tones to give a healthy looking glow to the skin, works the same way as hair tones. Go with what you plan and see how it goes with your skin tone.

I'm not saying you can not have some ash tone through the hair, but I wouldn't recommend a block colour. Go with ash blonde hi lites instead of  one block colour.

I always advise my client on their skin tone, eye colour to which depth/tone they should go with.

Let us know how you get on, best of luck.

Oh, I understand now. Thanks for explaining. I will do a light chestnut then with ash blonde hi lights. Your advice made a lot of sense, thank you!

I don't know ladies but I thought that warm tones are for those with warmer golden complexions and cool tones are for those who have pink in their skin.  There are those of us who have a neutral skin tone, I am one, and we look good in either as long as they are not too dark.  You also look pretty dark, a level 4 or so.  Generally, it's recommended that you not go more than 2-3 levels above your natural color for the most natural result.  You could get away with a blond, level 7 or so.  You would need a 40 volume developer to do it in one step.
