For those with long hair of any length, if you could cut your hair short, and "magically" one week later, you were absolutely guaranteed to have your original long hair back, would you cut it for that one week, just for the curiosity of having short hair?

no, I don't think I would. I've had short hair before, and know that it's not very flattering to my face.

Nope. For 2 reasons. It should grow that long in the first place :P and it reminds me of a ****ty childhood.

Sure, why not? Out of curiosity I would do that. As long as it reappears a week later.

If I would get my long hair back...absolutely. I'd love to spin on the ice without having a bulky bun at the back of my head.

I'm with papillion purple, for the same reasons. I think my longer hair suits my face shape and height better than short hair. It's only recently grown a little longer than shoulder length, but it pulls out the deep wave that misbehaves when it's shorter than that. To me, it's worth the extra effort to keep it longer, and besides, look at all the great hair toys I get to wear now!

If I could have my hair back the way it is now, guaranteed, I would do it more than once, and donate the cut hair to Locks of Love. They make wigs for people with cancer who have lost their hair. I would do it as many times as my hair magically came back.

Nope, nope, nope.

I've done my short hair time. Sorry - magic or no I couldn't do it. I can scarcely imagine it now - my hair was awful when it was short.

Nope. I had short hair for many years. No curiosity there.

I've had the rest, now I have the best -- long.

I would do it if I could have it all back the next week. Ive not seen myself with short hair since 7th grade...Id love to see boy cut short, a charelston dancer style short, a pixie cut, layered, not sure i care about shoulder lengths so much though.

but i want it all back after that week.\!

Nope. I've never had really short hair and have no intererest in having it. Although I would go for thicker and wavier for a week to see if I really would like it, always envying others who have thick wavy hair.

Then away you hairy beasties AWAY!
No more pranceing with your hairs all danceing.
No more silky tresses kissing your dresses.

Short short. Short and so sweet.
No more hairy be, not even your feet!

I would display my sabre teeth
And with my razors Toad defeat
No more cuts could Toady make
There is no hair in the deep dark grave

And if Toady would arise as an un-dead
Like a Vampire Slayer no tears would I shed
Straight to the heart with a sharpened stake
Toady demise I would celebrate

Alas and sad the day.
She kills with no remorse.
I only wish to cut off the hair,
while she cuts off a life.

What society is this?!
Bloodlust among the good hearted?
My blades do not near the flesh.
Your teeth crave a death.

Alas, and sad.

So then I will chop, untill she steals my life.
Chop Chop Chop!

If I could be guaranteed it would be back in
one week, absolutely.

I have often longed to know what I would
look like in a super short Pixie.
Messy on the top, with mousse and all.
I think it would be fun.

I would take the top off my car, drive
in the wind, run through a field of flowers,
go swimming, all sorts of fun things,
all carefree!

Then I would gladly return to my long hair.

To Toady,

Tis not your life I seek to take
Just a blunting of your blade

Your on-line life is a cutting wish
My heart will not bear a single swish

If snip you must then please steer clear
Of the Order of Un-cut Ends, Toady dear

There are those would embrace you
Welcome you – nay
Would hold you as leader
To you they would pray

Short Hair Board posters who cut to re-make
Their soft flowing tendrils into spiky parades
Seek out O Warty, your own kind and then
You can cut without censure, chop without end

It seems our troll wants it both ways. First, he wants to do away with your desires, then cries when others don't want to be party to his desires. Gee, I didn't receive the memo proclaiming this to be his domain.

Karen Marie, it's great to see you here!

And Uzma, your poetic waxings are wonderfully well-composed. A rose for your yeoman's efforts.

A rose from a Rose .

Thank you kindly gentleman.

I do feel sorry for the Warty one. It must be so lonely living in a pond full of bits of hair and rusty old scissors.
No wonder s/he jumped out and sought out this fair long hair paradise.

*Hands rose to Toady* You need it more than I do, Toady.........

To be honest Jennifer,
I don't think I would. I have been interested in seeing how i'd look with short hair, and I've played around with the sites where you add your pic and change it a bit. That was fun and all, but I just like my longer hair!!!

The thought is tempting though

Well I know I like my hair better long. Ive not had it short since i was younger and Im sure I would look cute enough. However I love the way my hair feels on my shoulders neck and back. Plus i remember always wanting long hair and admireing it on others. When I was little I would draw princesses and mermaids and regular girls all of whom would have never ending hair. Not just long but swirling over and over around the paper long. Endless.

Plus it makes me feel like a princess or mermaid. Or a rennassaince maiden. Ever notice how many of the very long haired gals are into Renn faires and SCA? Even as a bellydancer I love haveing long hair.

So id like to see myself in all kinds of hair styles just like I woul love to see myself in every style of dress imaginable but in the end my true self has long hair...and flowing skirts and dresses...

My true self is also a Rapunzelian maiden in soft, flowing clothes. Kind of hard to express that when you are also supposed to be a fast-talking hard-headed corporate bod. I save my trad feminine attire for evenings and weekends, likewise the hair is bound up during the day.

For those who believe in the “Realm”:
All the faeries I’ve met have long hair, even the goblins and hobgoblins, males and females.
Funnily enough, the pixies don’t have pixie-cuts. But that’s yet another example of children’s book illustrators imagining these beings rather than taking the time to search them out and draw them first hand. Laziness.

SCA?
Is that the Society for Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, the Scottish Canoe Association, the Society for Creative Anachronism…?

Society for Creative Anachronism.

Id like to know more about the Realm.

Very interested.

There is no "knowledge" of the Realm contained in books or can be described by the obscure shadows that are words.
There is only the knowing of it through certain means and through the generosity of the Universe.

If you seek the Realm then abandon all expectation and all imagination.
In silence and stillness....watch...truly watch.

The play of the wind, the light on the waves, the points where trees meet the earth, the hunger of wild beasts, the hummingbirds' spinning, a single strand of your hair releasing from your head and floating through continents ....watch and wait for what will reveal itself.

One day, when you are ready, a gateway will appear, and you may enter.

Watching and waiting doesnt seem to work for me.
Yearning or hoping is useless energy spent.

I can watch in silence or enjoy being a part of the wind, the earth, the water. But I can not hope or desire or attempt to seek.

In general, wanting something, to see or know or become a part of, is just painful. Its better to not hope or longingly wish for. Be it for something only a privilaged few are granted or for something that is offered to many.

So its better for me not to even think of such things let alone hope, or watch for.

And for that matter, why should I have to learn everything on my own? Never a guide or teacher?
Especialy when I see the harmful person calling herself shamen and learning from someone who truely is yet she pulls whomever she can down with her.

But I am getting off subject.

I just dont know that I could entertain the thought to hope.
