I have dark ash brown hair like this girl's roots: http://cdn.sheknows.com/celebsalon//2009/06/katherine-mcphee-long-hairstyle-june-2009.jpg - http://cdn.sheknows.com/celebsalon//2009/06/katherine-mcphee-long-hairstyle-june-2009.jpg

I really want a light light brown or very dark blonde like this:

Is bleach or Sun-In healthier for the hair? I've heard by hairdressers that the lemon in Sun-In dries out your hair, but doesn't bleach do the same?

What would be best for me to achieve this result?
Thanks everybody!

Have you ever colored your hair before? If you haven't you would be able to use a color that would lift about 2-3 shades to achieve that color. I can tell you that with hair as dark as yours, if you use sun in it will turn orange. And I never reccomend bleach unless you have previously colored your hair or you are lifting 4 or more shades. Luckily I have never color or relaxed my hair so it is all virgin. Do you think Feria Hi Hift Downtown brown would work or should I use a very light blonde dye to achieve a dark blonde? I'm not sure which dye will be good. If you have any suggestions that will be great!
