I have shoulder-length, fine, thick hair which is maybe 10% gray at the hairline only. I have an air perm which is 2 months old. I use pure henna to color my hair but lately it doesn't cover the gray. I'm afraid to use anything else because if my hair is damaged the perm doesn't take as well. Although this is the first time I've had an air perm and I have noticed that it seems to be much less damaged than with a regular perm.
My question is, what can I use to color my hair that will cover the gray and damage my hair as little as possible?
This would be a do-at-home project.
I picked up a semi-permanent color that washes out after 12 shampoos. Opened the box, read the instructions and found out that it cannot be used on hair that has been colored with henna until the henna has completely grown out. I've since been doing some more research and have not had any luck finding a non-peroxide, non-ammonia color that can be safely used over henna. Help!
