OMG...Unreal. I ve gotten those bad shocks from my car, wow that Smarts. But I never would have thought that could happen, unreal. That is VERY freaky. Makes you wonder what she had in her hair. I saw a show about this topic on TV and it seems that women are more likely to start the gas pump, get back in the car to wait for it to stop, then get out and replace the handle. All of that sliding across the seat causes a build-up of static electricity. Men often grab the door frame when exiting the car and that discharges and static build-up. I noted the story mentioned that cell phones should be turned off when pumping gas. The Discovery Channel show "Mythbusters" investigated this claim and found it to be without any merit. They filled a room with gas vapors and a cell phone, then called the cell phone to see if the ringing would set off the vapors. Nothing. It is better to err on the side of caution but there has not been a single incidence of this happening anywhere in the world.
