Hi! I am new here(Just joined). The reason I joined is I need hair color help. I have been coloring my own hair for over 20yrs. However the last few years have been rough ones for me.. Apparently my hair is not liking me well.
I color my hair red. Usually I use Loreal. I decided to try Garnier True Red. The sides of my hair didnt color but the top did and I love the color.
I am thinking of getting another box and just doing basically half my head. Its been almost a week.
Anyone who can help YAY...I probably would have been better off getting 2 boxes and I will from now on so that I can saturate all of my head better.

Hi back and welcome.

If you applied the Garnier True Red on top of the Loreal but the sides did not take it's possible that your hair in certain areas on your head are overporous and have become coated with the original haircolor formulation you have been using in the past.

It's possible for haircolor to build up over time depending on the porosity of your hair. If this is the case, applying another application will net the same results (uneven absorption). Saturating may not be the answer either.

If you really wish to change your hair color hue you may be required to strip the existing color and start over with the new color you like.

If you have access to a professional hairdresser who does your hair you may wish to consult with them to discuss your hair at length and address the reasons the new color did not take.
