Hi there. I'm wanting to cut layers in my hair extensions. I have in a 18" weave with my real hair in corn rows. I'd really like layers so that it's not all one length. Any help?

Also, if I screw it up, it will be alright. I need to get this one taken out anyway and get new hair put in. I've had this sew-in weave since May 28th. I'm rather proud of myself for leaving it in this long. I had a weave put in last year and I only kept it for 2 weeks.

Hi Kristin,
A lot of people cut layers into their extensions with slithering scissors. The scissirs remain open and gently drag the hair through at the top where scissors meet.
I like to make layers before I put in the wefts. The first 2 or 3 layers are all that's needed otherwise you take the chance of the hair looking too whispy on the ends. You can always adjust it once it's in. But, by layering before hand it makes the slithering (if needed) much easier.

If they are the simplest form of hair extensions, it is possible to just undo the clips by hand. If they are the ringed kind of hair extension clips,Use needle-nose pliers to gently press on the hair clip until it loosens. If the hair clip breaks,Wash your hair thoroughly, massaging the scalp both while shampooing and while conditioning, wait several weeks before adding any additional extensions to your hair, hair extensions weaken the hair and make it more susceptible to breakage.
