So, my hair is naturally light brown/dark blonde which i found really dull, so a few months ago i used a semi-permanent medium brown hair dye, and i loved how it turned out Smile . However, when that started growing out, i decided i wanted a reddish-tinge to the brown, so i dyed over it with a semi-permanent mahogany colour. It turned into a nice colour, but it didn't suit my skin colour very well (quite pale) .

I desperately want to get it lighter again, so I've tried washing it about twice a day for weeks, but it won't budge. I searched around the internet today, and someone suggested to mix an ounce of 10-volume hydrogen peroxide (3%) with an ounce of shampoo, massage it into a lather, leave for 10 minutes and then rinse out, and it should be considerably lighter without the orange or brassy tones.
Any suggestions on whether this is a good idea? I know that its best to get this done at a salon, however i really can't afford that, and i've already bought the 10-volume peroxide.

Any thoughts?

well i tried it, and it didn't make a difference whatsoever!
can 10-volume peroxide be used for lightening hair at all?
