I hope it goes here! What makes a person need approval from other people about their hair, clothes, the way they dress, the way that they live, etc. Any opinions? I have heard it said all my life to be true to yourself, but I find that truly hard to do! I need peoples approval on thing's and was wondering if anyone else felt the same way or if anyone knows why I feel the way that I do? Any answers would be greatly appreciated! Debbie

I don't think it's unreasonable to want approval from others about our hair.
Hair style and color can be one of the ways we express ourselves, and it's natural to want positive reaction.
Being true to yourself means accepting that sometimes you do want to make a statement to others through appearance.
I think it only becomes a problem if you have been discouraged from expressing yourself by negative reaction, or if you substitute other's judgement completely for your own.

It's the natural tendency of humans to want to belong. That's why there are fashions, cliques, clubs, religions, etc. But some people are so insecure with themselves they feel they can't make a decision on their own, and that's where the problem comes in. Those people need to work on their self-esteem so they can feel better about themselves, and have the confidence to do what they want without worrying so much about what other people think. Just ask yourself honestly, what's the worst that could happen? So someone doesn't like it, maybe they insult you and hurt your feelings. So what? As long as you like it, it's not a problem. You just get to think what a jerk that person is and move on. Maybe later you'll find someone who shares your opinions, and get along fine. No big deal.
