I have long thick wavy hair. I like it straightened, cause it isn't as thick feeling. I want to get it cut but I can't cut it short. my parents won't let me. any suggestions. I was thinking about getting chopped layers, but I don't know what that would look like.

I usually just get it trimmed, thinned, v-cut, and layered. how can I cut it so it will feel lighter. I like my waves but sometimes it is way to much to do with and I look like I have a lions mane when I wear it down when it isn't straightened.lol. My mom says that I can't get a straightener thing put in it, cause it is way too much chemicals. one hairstylist said that it has more chemicals than dyeing your hair.
