hey everyone! I'm new to this site bc i can't get any answers and i really need some! So My hair has been a dark brown for quite a while and i decided i wanted to go back light. Preferably light brown with blonde highlights, but I wanted to get to the light brown first. So I stripped my hair yesterday.. it brought it to a really light orange at the top and a brassy orange on the ends, so I put a Medium ash brown (Wella Koleston) on it, AND IT TURNED BLACKISH RED!! I freaked out and went and got another stripper and stripped it again then put a medium double ash blonde (CHI) on it, and guess what color it is.... dark brown with red tints! I'm freaking out bc it's far from what I want. I don't want any red and definitely want it to be light. It's not too terribly damaged consider before i stripped it i got it cut into a bob, but i don't want to go shorter... so to achieve the color i want should I strip it again and try and lighter color or go ahead and bleach it, or would bleach damage it way too much? the sad thing here is i'm in beauty school, and i've questioned them and no one can understand why it keeps going dark. Every beautician i've went too tells me i'll have to keep it dark.. I DON'T WANT TOO, so please help me out :)

a tricky situation, I'd suggest you try to tone the hair with a medium brown ash demi permanent dye. And then use foils to lighten the most dark brassy parts. With that said I think you should be carefull so that the hair don't fall off. You could also go for toning the hair and use clip-in blonde highlights

In my opinion your best bet would be to go get it done proffessionally. Its always best to go to a salon when your having problems like that
