I bleached my hair from dark ash brown to platinum level 10/11 blonde. I toned it with a *permanent* color called Ion Hi Lift Ash Blonde 12.1. Being that is a PERMANENT color and not even a toner like Wella White Lady, I figured that would last at least a month!! Well, this is how it looked after the color and I loved it: (This was on March 7)

Now, it's March 17th, but my hair is already yellow and has been yellow even after the first two washes WITH a One N' Only So Silver purple shampoo! (I heard Shimmer Lights is stronger?)

Can this rapid change by because I live in an apartment and probably wash with hard water? I just never seen yellowing occur THIS fast, especially when used with a permanent ash color! I'm getting so frustrated...Does anyone else have this problem? What am I to do at this point? If anyone can offer help I'll really appreciate it!

Are you using a purple shampoo and conditioner like Shimmer Lights from Clairol. It's available from Sally's.

Also I'd stick with a toner to tone your hair after bleaching rather than a hi-lift permanent color.

Well as I said in the thread, I shampooed with One N' Only So Silver Shampoo from Sally's which seemed to get good reviews. I also tried Fanciful White Minx rinse AND the mousse; they barely did anything. Is it that my hair is STILL to dark? :s Well, after my One N' Only runs out, I'm replacing it with the Shimmer Lights and I'll see how that goes :) I"ll post pics up here if that will help anyone. Like I said, it's hard to tell if my shampoo is too weak or if it's my water or both. :/ And yes, next time I touch up my roots I will try White Lady instead of the permanent color this time. :) Thanks for the reply!

Also try clarifying, that can help with the build up. AG makes an awesome purple shampoo and conditioner that I love!

the pigments from highlighting colors often fade quite fast, which means that the underlying yellowtones become visible again. I'd suggest that you tone your hair with a violet base demi permanent color. Using permanent dye to tone blonde hair over and over again can cause lots of damage.

And like the others have said, use purple shampoo and conditioner it really helps.
