Hi Karen,

How are you? I just want to start off saying I love this website it is truly wonderful. I have gotten so many tips and ideas for my hair on this site. I have a question on how to achieve Jessica Simpson's haircolor when it was brown with blonde highlights. I provided some links to pictures below. I am really interested in the hair color she has in the picture in which she is wearing the red outfit. My haircolor is close to the color of the darker part in that same picture. Would I be able to achieve that color of blonde or would I be better off aiming for the blonde color of her hair in the picture where she is wearing the black outfit (except I would have more of my natural haircolor at the crown). I think both colors are beautiful. Also, I would love to know how she keeps her hair in such great conditon because I know her natural haircolor is a light to medium brown. Any of your advice would be greatly appreciated. I am tired of my boring brown haircolor. Please help me.

Thanks,
Christine

I don't know how to help you but I think you should get the 4th one.

I think that if your hair is as dark as the brown in Jessica Simpson's hair in those pictures, you might have a hard time attaining those near platinum highlights. Actually, her hair is naturally dishwater blonde, and she has it dyed blonder (with some blonde highlights it would appear), so in those pics where she has dark hair, that was probably lowlights and not blonde highlights in brown hair. But who knows, you may be able to achieve that color with the help of a salon professional, I mean, look at Brittany Murphy. She is naturally a dark brunette and now she's pretty blonde. It just depends on how much damage your willing to endure to get your hair so light, or how light your stylist can safely get your hair before it gets to a point where it breaks off. So, pick a great hair stylist, preferably a master color artist, and get a consultation so she/he can assess your hair and get an idea of what is possible and what she/he'll need to dye your hair.

Well, it's possible to achieve light blond hair when done correctly. I have naturally very dark hair to begin with but I can lift my hair to very light blonde without difficulty. Maybe it's because I have highly resistant hair to begin with and can withstand damage very well. It depends on a person's hair texture and products used. I've seen dark brunettes become a bleached blonde successfully and keep their hair length. But for a person who is new to hair dyeing, it's best to see a color specialist to do this for you and bring pics with you you like the best. Good luck!

Beachgerl,

What hair products do you use such as shampoos, conditioners, leave-ins, and styling products to keep your hair in good condition? Do you wash your hair every day? I have heard that Jessica Simpson sleeps with conditioner in her hair every night. Is that really a good idea? I used to have light blonde highlights and I did them myself and they turned out great but my boyfriends mom is a hair stylist and does my hair for free now. I am also afraid to do it myself because it has been so long since I have had my hair highlighted I am afraid I will mess it up. Please let me know if you have any ideas on what products to use to keep highlighted hair in good condition after highlighting. I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks,
Sweetpea
