Lauren Conrad wrote a book called Style by HarperCollins which covers topics like dressing for a first date and other tricks. She gave People her favorite 5 Fashion Rules such as:
1. Mix it up
She said "I love a fux-leather piece with a more feminine item like a slip-dress.
2. Borrow from the boys
She said "I love menswear. A blazer can be dressed up or down. You get lots of mileage from them and they give you a polished appearance.
3. Great jeans don't have to break the bank
She said "Every woman should own a flattering pear of jeans. I buy all my denim at Urban Outfitters. They have good selections and prices.
4. Make investments count
A black pump goes with everything so it's okay to spend more. She said "I love how Christian Louboutin does a platform high heel.
5. Think beyond the closet
Style is beyond what you look like. It's small gestures like being gracious to waitstaff that set you apart.
