I've seen people here mention Shea Butter as a good thing for long hair. I just noticed it's an ingredient in the conditioner I'm using.

What does Shea Butter do, and where could I buy some? The health food store?

I find Shea Butter a heavy moisturising ingredient when used for hair and skin.

When my hair is completely dry a few hours after washing, I will take a small nub of pure Shea Butter and rub it in my palms - then apply it to the ends of my hair.
Last winter, I did this every day and the stuff coated the hair, yet had sunk right in (or worn off) by the end of the day. If used with a light touch, it doesn't leave hair greasy, just well conditioned.

I buy 100% Shea Butter from L'Occitane.
There are lots of places to buy it online but I haven't done so - and hence am unable to recommend a site.

Hope that helps somewhat.
