Ok.......recently i shaved my head...used to be long and pretty much unkempt....now it's about 1/2 long and im thinking about just giving up and keeping it shaved.....no matter what i try..gel or whatever, it has no effect...its just one big poofy frizzball with cowlicks and wild unruley patches of hair...i can't get it to look even reasonably good....it's really screwing up my ego....
basically i just get outa the shower and pat it semi-dry with a towel and try to do something with it but no it's just a frizzball and on top is all growing in ward like rooster hair
any advice on styling this mother any steps to take...products...techniques... would be most helpful
oh and my hair is strait and...kinda thick i think.

What is your facial shape? I say to just let it grow and maybe go for a bed head hair style. In the end, you get more choices with hair than without it.

Well, which do you want? Long or short? If you like a shaved head, go for it.
Long sounds like it may be a good answer for you if you have cowlicks and don't like poofiness, length would weigh it down. It will be painful during the growing out process (and take forever), but it might be worth it if you like it better flatter.
If you want it short, but just not poofy, have you tried sticking it down when its wet by wearing a tight cap until it dries so it lays flat? You may have to be a bit selective in the hat you choose, (or you could wind up with lumpy hair) Maybe a knit cap, or something that covers your whole head evenly (will take awhile to dry), or you could buy a durag to sleep in until it dries. A little gel may help it stay down better too.

hmm have you tried out of bed hairstyle. you take a shower before you go to bed, then with damp hair use a very good fibre gel or pomade or hair putty. messed it up. then go to bed. when you wake up instant bed head
