Hi. I have been wondering how people feel about Pantene Hair products. Years ago I used them because they worked better than anything else to remove tangles from my baby-fine very tangly hair. It seems hair stylists always say these products are terrible, and I have read that they can cause hair loss over time, etc. I guess because there is silicone in them? Well for one thing, they're cheap and found in drugstore conditioners, not salons. Some people's hair does agree with silicone... mostly coarse hair types though. There's a better chance of damage when the hair is finer like yours. If silicone products are the only thing that keeps your hair tangle free (like my case) then I wouldn't stop using them. Maintenance includes clarifying once a week at the very least. They get a bad rap, but a silicone conditioner isn't just silicone... the coating holds in the humectants, emollients, etc... Conditioning the scalp is generally for those who CO (Conditioner-only) wash and not shampooers. For those who shampoo, conditioning should be "from the ears down" and avoiding the scalp. If conditioning the scalp helps you, however, you'll want to condition your scalp then you might want to find some cone free PVP-free alternatives. HTH Anais |

| Hm.. they might. Some shampoos have conditioning agents. So you'll want to check for -cone and -conol. |

When I had my hair platinum, I always used pantene conditioner because it was the only thing that made it look and feel soft. So, I don't think it was so bad, but I do think it was causing my ends to break off so I couldn't grow my hair long as fast as I wanted. It still grew, just not as fast as otherwise. If you don't care about how fast your hair grows, I think it would be fine. I also only used it from the ears down. I didn't use the shampoo, just cheapo brand shampoo.
