| About 2 months ago I decided to dye my hair since my natrual hair colour is a bit mousey. I used 'ash blonde' hair colour and it made my hair more orange than anything but I didn't do anything about it. Nowadays my hair doesn't have the natrual lift it used to have and is alot more drier and flatter which makes it hard for me to get the style I want. I'm thinking the problem might be that since my hair grew the roots are of natrual colour so therefore not as dry since there's no chemicals on them. I've been thinking of buying a colour removal but I'm not sure if it'll help or which one to get or what will happen. Any help? |

| Oh and also my hair is a little frizzy at the ends which I presume is because of the hair colouring. I shampoo/condition daily but nothing seems to work. |

Hi Gum.. any color on your hair before this last one? What did you use? Read it off of the box if you can. If your hair is lighter after using a "Blonde" permanent color, Color Remover won't hep you. | Thanks for replying Sophie..No there wasn't any colour before and I used Clairol Ash Blonde dye. My hair is natrually dirty blonde/brownish and after the dye job it became strawberry blondish/orangey. I'm just trying to get my hair back to it's natrual colour and restoring the smoothness and the lift my hair used to have before I dyed it. Another problem is that 1/2 of my hair is dyed and from the root up to 1/2 the hair is my natrual colour. |

So I'm guessing that the newgrowth is your natural color. This should be pretty easy if you don't have any white or really light ends or something. (this is kind of important) Semi-permanent...deposit only color like Natural Instincts. The key is finding the right color to apply. It can't be too dark...***Lighter is better even if you have to do it again with a slightly darker color. And you DON"T want an ash color for this...unless you hair is truly Reddish. even then... But I'm guessing truly your gold not red? It sounds to me like you're saying the problem isn't that you mind the color, but that you mind how dry your hair is? If you don't mind the color, but miss your natural hair's texture, I'd just wait for it to grow out (presuming you have a short cut and it won't take that long). The only think I know to do to improve the quality of hair that's dry from dye is condition, condition, condition. If that doesn't work there's not much else to do. You could try some of the extra heavy conditioners at Sally (Ion makes one, there are others) that you leave in your hair for 10 minutes. You could also try a leave-in conditioner (one made to spray on after you wash and condition your hair that you don't wash out). Try to find a nice Natural or Neutral brown...NO red browns or even yellow browns. Look for something that describes the color as neutral. I disagree that there is nothing you can do about the condition...If you stick with the DEPOSIT ONLY color...like Natural Instincts...you will have a better feel to your hair and definately more shine. Pick what looks like the perfect color...and then go with one lighter...maybe even a dark blonde. If it's not dark enough you can always apply the darker one next...or even better maybe 1/2 & 1/2. That is what you will have to find out... Start with the dk ash blonde first and if that doesn't do it you can gradually try a darker color.
