Hi all. I have had a short pixie (think, Michelle Williams current style) for a couple of years now. I love it, but am getting bored, so I think I want to grow it out into a short bob for a while (as I mentioned in a previous post to this forum). However, I'm going on a big vacation in the beginning of April, so I'm wondering whether I can have a decent looking style by then, or if I should wait to grow it out till I come back.

I last had it cut at the beginning of this month, so I would be able to have 2-3 inches of growth by the beginning of April. Currently, the sides are just over my ears - they would be ear tip length or jaw length if I'm really lucky by then. What kind of style could I have with hair that length? My layers are currently 2-3 inches long all over, so would be 4-6 inches long by that time. Of course, I would trim the back to avoid mullet territory, but would want to avoid cutting the rest of it as much as possible.

I'm just having trouble envisioning a style at that length that I would want to have in my vacation photos. :-) You guys are always so great with the photos and advice, I'm hoping you can help me out. If you think I should wait, please tell me that, too. I do like my pixie, but am just incredibly bored with it. My hair is blonde and quite fine, if that helps. Also, I am a married mom of a certain age, so nothing too crazy, please. :-)

I'm thinking if you let it grow, you would have to tuck it behind your ears until it gets longer. Don't think that you will have enough time to have a "traditional" bob. Do you have bangs? Yes, keep the back trimmed up to let the sides/layers catch up if you want a bob.

Sorry...long hair guy here... see what happens when a guy comes around? I don't think so? You have enough fun in front of you to show off any situation.

Suddenly you are pinned in shoot... yikes... but, you instinctively gather your hair in front of you face for a Photoshout...perfect as you tresses hide your eyes. What is it with women, and getting these perfect styles when they have all this stuff to work with?

Do yourself a favor. Look into the mirror. Shake your head. See where alll your tresses lie, even in your eyes. Remember your on vacation? So take the mass of your hair and douse it in the sink. HOw much water does it hold... if you flipped it all around (best in shower), what is it like... good enough?

I think so... being a guy. Ladies don't sell your self shorft!

Thanks, guys. Hawg, that article was helpful, thanks. I think I will give growing it out a shot. I can always cut it before my vacation and start over again after if I really hate it.
