Her glossy mane is one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s most prized assets – kept pristine with regular trips to her hair stylist James Pryce at Richard Ward’s Sloane Square salon. So what is the secret behind her hair’s shine? The man himself has revealed that it’s all thanks to a high street hair mask.

‘As with any  bride, I make certain that they use a good conditioning mask on the hair once a week in the lead-up to their wedding in order to give it a boost of shine, body, condition and beauty,’ James Pryce revealed of the preparation he instructed Kate to do in the lead-up to the Royal Wedding.

Pryce – who has worked with the Duchess for almost ten years – also revealed their secret trick for making sure her precious tiara didn’t slip off. ‘As with any hair accessory – tiara or otherwise, making sure it is secure is extremely important. A great trick for securing is to sew the base onto a small hidden plait.’

And what about those curls – that never seem to flatten? ‘To ensure that curls stay put, start with a good blow-drying spray, like any volumizing spray. You might try self adhesive or heated rollers – just be sure to allow them to cool down completely before taking them out,’ he goes on.

Pryce accompanied the Duchess on her tour of North America earlier this year – the only member of staff she took – and is largely responsible for Kate being voted one of 2011’s most enduring beauty icons.

But Pryce insists that anyone can get Kate’s healthy hair. ‘I think the key to attaining noticeable hair is to have a cut that suits your hair type. For instance if you have frizzy, thin hair, then trying to achieve a style better suited to long, straight hair is not for you.

Really, you want your hair to look as good as it possibly can with the least amount of effort, so just stay true to what will make your own hair type look it’s most beautiful.’ Oh, James – can’t we just borrow you every morning instead? Please?!
