My girlfriend wants me to go to an 80's theme party as Boy George when Culture Club were popular. She has asked a friend of hers to do my hair and make up. I have shoulder length medium brown hair. I've tried searching for what Boy George looked like back then and can't find any pics on the net. Does anyone know what sort of look they have in mind and what this girl is likely to do to my hair.

I should have added if it helps date the look that we are going to Karaoke sing to the Chameleon song and Do you really want to hurt me

Occasionally BG had his hair in small braids, and sometimes he had that god-awful layer-of-bangs-over-one-side-of-the-face look. If they approach you with clippers, run.

Thanks for the link. Some of those look scary.
I know there is a hat involved. And I also know that my girlfriend has been collecting lots of different colored rags and materials. So I am guessing something like this.

But if my hair is only shoulder length, can they really braid it like this and get that sort of look. And are those rag things braided into the hair or just attached at the ends. It looks kind of painful too - is it?

BG that first pic you posted is what I think of when I think of the Chameleon days. She could cut the rags into thin strips and braid them into the hair, and since your hair isn't quite long enough (it will be a little shorter when braided), she can braid the rags to extend a few inches past the ends of your hair so it looks longer (she could use some dark brown rags so it doesn't show so much). Rags won't hurt your hair or cause pain to your head.
