I'm new to this forum, though I have been reading it for a while, as there is a ton of great advice.

At the moment, I have a bob that's slightly inverted, or so that's my best description of it.  Right now it's reddish/auburn with some highlights.  My natural colour is a dark ash/mouse blond with 50% grey.  For many years I had longer hair (shoulder length or longer), but over the past two years I've kept it in varying bob styles from shoulder length to chin length, some more inverted than others.

Something else I'm considering (and more or less decided on) is going blond again.  I've been different shades of red from light auburn to dark mahogany, though would like to go back to blond for a while, until I'm ready for change again.

One thing I should mention:  I like pixies on other people, but not me.  Every time I change my style or colour, there's always at least several compliments, and my husband is basically happy with whatever I do, and he knows I like to change things around now and again.  This time because I haven't changed in a while, I thought I'd look for some input..

Any ideas?

I know you said no pixies, but I think you would look great with one. Or perhaps a bob with some layers and the back very short, maybe have one side a slight bit shorter than the other

Absolutely agree with above.  An ansymetrical bob with a short back.

Thanks for the input bananapantss and orangenoise - this really helps! :-)Usually I have long side bangs, and think this would work well with an asymmetrical bob?  I like the idea of having one side a bit shorter than the other side, since I part it on the side.I'm also thinking of a light blond shade too.

I wouldn't go too blonde and I too like the idea of something asymetric.

Agree with all those that agree...asymmetrical but not too blonde.  Have you thought of dark red?

I personally think long side bangs work the best with a bob, and having the side that it's parted on be quite a bit shorter than the other side has always looked very good on the people I've known

Thanks everyone for your help.

lovesshorthair - I have tried dark red last autumn and liked this also. It seems to fade quickly though, and I went lighter with some highlights to an auburn. I'm thinking of possibly going darker maybe after trying blond again. Thanks for the pictures - this really helps too. My hair has a natural wave and blow drying helps straighten it, though I'm not sure if the wave would have an affect on this style. Either way, I would like to try it.

Today I got my hair done.  I went a bit lighter, and think I will avoid blond and stick with a shade of red, maybe auburn?

I like the style and so far have received four compliments, plus one compliment on the colour.

wow, looks cool... is the side buzz cut?

Long with BLUNT bangs or ALL cut to lip length, I cant decide my favorite!

Thanks!  The side wasn't buzzed, the stylist used scissors for the cut.  This is different then when I had the more inverted style before, where they use the razor at the back.  Because my hair tends to get very heavy and thick, she thought it was best to go with a more wispy (?) style.  The side is approx. 1.5 to 2 inches at the shortest, gradually getting longer towards the back, though it's more tapered than inverted now in the back.

Oops...I meant to say the length on the shorter side is 0.5 to one inch at the shortest.

I chose the first picture of the three and took that one to the salon.  Next time I'm thinking of taking the second one, because I'm getting used to this style and wouldn't mind going a bit shorter.

Thanks for the advice everyone :)
